Fawcett Energy's roots trace back to Cambridge in 1894, where Robert Fawcett (1849-1943) built the foundation of the business. The company originally started as "Robert Fawcett Hay & Grain" in the Inman Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Adapting to the needs of the time, the business pivoted from hay and grain to coal under Robert Joseph Fawcett (1883–1972), becoming “Robert Fawcett Hay, Grain & Coal”, one of Cambridge’s largest coal dealers during the 1920s and helping local families stay warm through changing New England winters.

By the 1950s, heating oil had become the dominant residential fuel in the region, offering cleaner indoor air and requiring less manual labor. Robert “Bob” Fawcett (1915-1987) helped transition the company from Coal to Oil deliveries.

Following Bob's passing, Robert "Red" Fawcett continued growing the company. After moving to Duxbury and raising his family there, Red expanded the business through strategic acquisitions, beginning with Kingston Oil in 1990.

Red acquired several smaller oil companies on the South Shore to establish a stronger presence between Cambridge and Kingston.

Fawcett Energy continued to grow by expanding its heating, cooling, and home comfort services. Investments in modern equipment, trained technicians, and customer support helped strengthen the company’s long-standing reputation for quality service.

In June 2014, with the acquisition of Giguere & Marchand Oil Service, the Blackstone office opened, providing both an office location and oil storage facility, along with a talented team of technicians and drivers.

The acquisition of Saulnier Oil in September 2015 provided a key office location in North Dartmouth and strengthened our presence throughout the South Coast region.

September 2017 the business expanded west with the acquisition of Noar's Oil, adding additional storage, office space, and a strong foothold in the Worcester market.

Fawcett Energy continues to grow while staying true to its family-owned roots, delivering quality heating oil, dependable HVAC heating and cooling service, and responsive care to homes and businesses across the region. With every generation, the company remains focused on reliable comfort, customer support, and the practical energy solutions local customers count on.
